Analysing Film extracts
Step up
After seeing the film Step up, this has given us the inspiration to produce a similar film, however, we are aiming to produce a slightly more gritty version, where the presence of drugs and scandal is imminent to try and escape the stereotypical dance film that is becoming a bit of a bore! We have decided a dark edge to the film would be more entertaining and appealing. An uplifting story of struggle and success as challenges are always met. This will also allow the audience to empathise with the characters and build a relationship with them. A film like step up is uplifting but does not have particularly truthful issues that could be related to. It is more of a Jazzed up Hollywood rendition of stereotyped dance and over dramatised yet plain story lines . we want our film to be a more British film, that helps to deal with some of the issues in today’s society. We believe however, alike to step up a good way of doing this would be through the medium of music and dance.
